Travel & Leisure Features Nicaragua in its March 2009 Issue
Some more big press coverage for Nicaragua has just hit news stands. The journalist behind this story points out a few key reasons why Nicaragua is a unique and lovely place to visit.
We wanted to update some details for you since it seems his visit was not in the past year. For instance, it is mentioned that the road from the Pan American Highway to San Juan del Sur is full of pot holes. This was the case a year ago during construction of the new road, and now it is a brand-new black top with fresh paint and plenty of reflectors! We are happy to say the drive from Managua is now completely smooth!
We also wanted to add some recommendations for food based on our years of dining throughout Managua, Granada, and San Juan del Sur.
In Managua the must-haves are El Muelle (the dock), which makes an incredible fish ceviche and has great, fresh seafood. For a churrasco steak, El Churrasco is the place.
In Granada, El Zaguan is a must. They make a fresh chorizo that is accompanied by three salsas. Delicious.
And of course San Juan del Sur. For coffee in the morning El Gato Negro. For dinner El Pozo and El Colibri, as well as the La Cascada restaurant at Pelican Eyes.

San Juan del Sur's Lending Library  The San Juan del Sur Biblioteca is the first lending library in Nicaragua, providing books, information, technology, and community center services to the people of San Juan del Sur and its surrounding communities.
