How much does it cost to build a home in Nicaragua?
 
There are many factors that play in to this equation. The location will dictate transportation costs, as will the style of home you want to build and the topography of your property, and of course the materials you want to use. Many people are under the impression that high quality building can be done for $40 per square foot. That was the case several years ago, but since world demand for oil, steel, and cement shot up in recent years, we have seen this cost nearly double.
 
Now that the world economy has slowed demand for construction materials and oil, we expect that quality building will start to decrease in price, making it a great time to build a home in Nicaragua. It may take a few months for existing materials (that were purchased during the peak) to make room for newer, less expensive materials. Watch prices during the first 2 quarters of 2009 and you might be pleasantly surprised!
