Our January newsletter is focused on San Juan del Sur and an exciting opportunity that just popped up close to town. The San Juan del Sur area is receiving unprecedented attention, including a feature on the NBC TODAY show this morning. As I sit here writing this to you, all sorts of people are passing by our office to watch the sunset over the bay. Afterwards, they will either head to one of the thatch-roofed restaurants lining the beach, to one of the pizzerias, or up to Pelican Eyes for a gourmet meal and view of the city lights. No matter the destination, they will mingle with the locals and other travelers or foreigners living in town. |

If you love the beach, you will not want to miss the turtle nesting season this year. Playa La Flor, about 30 minutes drive south from San Juan del Sur, is one of the world’s largest turtle preserves. Between October and January you can experience this amazing wonder of nature…literally thousands of Olive Ridley sea turtles swim ashore at the same time to lay their eggs. Olive Ridleys get their name from the coloring of their heart-shaped shell, which starts out grey but reaches an olive green once the turtles are adults.
