Welcome Aboard!

First we’d like to welcome Laura Huston on board as our newest team member in Nicaragua. Laura is working towards expanding our travel services and broadening our vacation rental options in order to accommodate our diverse client base.

Originally from Encinitas, California, Laura has most recently been living in the ski town of Mammoth Lakes, California. Laura graduated from University of California, Santa Barbara with a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology and Spanish. After extensive travel in South and Central America, she felt especially drawn to Nicaragua because of its unspoiled natural beauty and friendly culture. One of Laura’s primary reasons for moving to Nicaragua is to contribute to local projects dealing with education, public health, and the environment. Investing in the Community

The mayor’s office of San Juan del Sur, in conjunction with donations from the government of Taiwan, has begun construction on the community’s new recreation and cultural center. Situated in San Juan del Sur’s old fish processing plant which has been closed for approximately 10 years, the new center will give residents of San Juan del Sur access to a wider variety of sports and entertainment activities including indoor basketball, volleyball, and soccer, and will also house local government offices, town hall, and San Juan del Sur’s fire department. Water’s Edge International Realty has been sponsoring men’s volleyball and women’s soccer teams in San Juan del Sur since our inception, and we look forward to becoming even more involved in the community as we continue to grow.

On Saturday, August 5th we shared the excitement of yet another business opening in San Juan del Sur. A group of approximately 50 ex pats and locals were introduced to the founders of the Scuba Shack, Glenn Campbell and Nahoko Ueda from Winnipeg, Canada. The Scuba Shack is a water sports activity center offering scuba diving instruction and planned trips, surfing trips, and a variety of other water sport equipment rentals and lessons. Now you can learn to scuba dive with a PADI certified instructor while enjoying your vacation in San Juan del Sur!
